Ocean County Waterfront Home Sales Jump 27%

Ocean County Waterfront home sales are up almost 27% from this time last year.  As you can see from the graph below the strongest growth is in homes priced less than $500,000, but especially in homes between 400,000 and 500,000 dollars.

Ocean County Tax Records

In an effort to increase government transparency, The Governors office recently launched a website that provides the public with data that makes it easier to understand New Jersey's public finances. Included on this website, www.YourMoney.NJ.Gov, is an interactive map that displays the Garden States' 3.1 million property tax assessment records.

With the new property tax feature, REALTORS® and consumers can check individual records in their town or community, jump from record to record and compare assessments and taxes from one town to another. Records detail the address, block and lot number, property class, owner name, value of land and buildings, and the prior year's taxes. The database will be updated annually.

In addition to property tax records, the Governor has made available performance budgeting data from 22 agencies, seven years of State spending and revenue data, 276,299 pension recipient records, data from nineteen independent authorities and purchasing data for 7,994 state vendors. Barnegat gets its name from nearby Barnegat Bay and Barnegat Inlet. The inlet was originally "Barendegat," or "Inlet of the Breakers," and was named by Dutch settlers in 1614 for the waterway's turbulent channel. Barnegat Township has a total area of 40.8 square miles, of which, 34.7 square miles is land and 6.2 square miles of it (15.09%) is water.

Since 1970, the township's populations has jumped from 1,539 to 22,643 - an increase of 1,371 percent. And the township still has 2,500 to 3,000 housing units already approved that have yet to be built.

Even through the economic downturn, 120 to 150 new homes a year have been built in Barnegat. Development is still very active in Barnegat Township and in all likelihood will continue.
